Explore The Loxahatchee River with a Rental
The Loxahatchee is a nationally designated Wild and Scenic River. Along the river is a wide diversity of plant life including both tropical and temperate vegetation. Wildlife abounds around you as you paddle along. The narrow winding tea-colored waters are canopied along most of the river by majestic cypress trees offering paddlers a shady, unique, and sometimes challenging experience. The Loxahatchee flows through several different freshwater and saltwater habitats, each supporting a wide variety of wildlife. Along the banks, it’s common to see alligators, turtles, river otters, deer, raccoon, turkey, bald eagles, owls, heron, ibis, egrets, gopher tortoise, osprey, storks, scrub jay and many other species. Some of the more common types of fish include bass, panfish, mullet, snook, tarpon, redfish and jacks.
There is no better way to enjoy a view of what Jupiter has to offer than to rent a kayak and venture into these pristine environments on your own adventure! Whether exploring down river or in the lakes inside Riverbend Park, the Jupiter Outdoor Center can get you into the watercraft of your choice and give you the proper safety gear and guidance to assure you have a great time on the water. We recommend planning for at least a minimum of 2 hours for a river trip.
It’s about 2 – 3 hours for a round trip to the 2nd dam area and back with time for a few stops.
Take your time and enjoy the scenery as you journey down the river. For every hour down river, plan on an hour and 15 minutes back as you return against the current, which varies depending on conditions.

Hey Pedal Pushers! Riverbend has some incredible bike trails! You can easily spend a few hours or even an entire day exploring the park by bike. We have fifteen miles of hard-packed shell trail on the east side of the Loxahatchee River and another two or three miles on the west.
One of the most popular trails, Reese Trail, is at the foot of Jupiter Outdoor Center’s rental location. Most all of the other trails meet up with Reese Boulevard at some point. Trail maps are located throughout the park to help you decide where to explore next. Trail signs are posted at most cross sections, and when you’re ready to call it day, simply follow the “exit” signs to return to the front of the park, which is usually never more than 10-15 minutes away.
See more of the park in less time with one of our new electric bikes! Pedal as much or as little as you like with the pedal-assist feature. Points of interest:
